TOOL OF THE DAY: ColorSupply

I recall learning about color in Art Class at Pace Academy. Mrs. Graham taught us about complimentary, and secondary and what happens when you combine certain colors. That was the print world. Today we have the world of ‘light’ and the combinations to make certain colors doesn’t happen as much, but the look of colors next to one another still applies. The colors need to compliment one another, and major corporations have spent and still do spend millions of dollars. There are entire semester classes devoted to ‘color’ as there are dozens of books. Well if you want to jump right in, or don’t have time to read or attend bring up this website.

Its all there from what color goes with which, to what three color or even four colors will work. If you are building a website and need the hex code, its there at the bottom. Lots to play with and very simple to use. There are many different shapes that get filled with the colors chosen so you have an excellent idea of what you will get.

How to Make Indie Drama Poster

As long as I am on the ‘movie theme’ how about making a movie poster for an Indie film. You know, the low budget, can’t really afford anything much less a graphic artist to spend lots of time, etc.

The good news is you can do it yourself in a few steps. You’ll still need a couple of great images, but then maybe your star actors have some head shots you can use. Just make sure they have the rights.

The steps themselves are pretty straight forward. You also don’t need Photoshop to do them. Today even some of the iPhone Apps will do them. You can also use other Apps to make needed changes to images and then import.

If you do create something, please share. You’ll promote your movie and it will also be picked up by a few folks I work with on Twitter as well as Facebook. So be creative!!!

There is some related content, freebies here also. These are from OpenCulture.

Please share which you liked the most or used.

Must Have Apps

press-1015988_1920The rapid deployment of apps today makes it a must to know what to have on your desktop as well as your mobile devices. In fact that may be one way to judge an app is their availability on both platforms. Lifehacker has always been great at finding these tools and then listing them This list of 50 is pretty amazing, and I was amazed that I had over 40 of them, and use a good bit of the 40 everyday. I also have a number of them in the iPhone as well as Desktop.

If you are for any reason short on storage, download them using the desktop machine and then it will be available if you need it. Don’t forget that once you have some of these IFTTT becomes even more powerful. Yes IFTTT is on the must list.

Here’s your link to Lifehacker’s 50 Must Haves.
